Homecoming Notes

Hey all couple of notes:

If you have towels, pillows, or blankets (in order of importance) please bring just in case...but we do have enough if not.

Chris our drains clog occasionally so you may want to preshave before coming so as to not overload the system.

I have a fair amount of liqour but not many mixing agents so if you like cranberry grape or something weird tell me so I can get it at the store after work.

Jake this is way last minute, but can you burn another copy of our Advance Video DVD, mine went kaput? If not it's cool I'll just punch you in the face a la Lenny when you least expect it.

My cell is 610-316-6612 and my voicemail works
Although if it is before 5 call my work number 717-399-1900 ext 150.

Looking forward to seeing all of you suckers

Erik

I'm pregnant

HAHAH!! Just kidding, wanted to get your attention. Hey everyone! I apologize for not getting on here sooner to talk, but circumstances beyond my control have made it near impossible for me to have much of a life at the moment. It's not that I don't want to talk to everyone, I just haven't had much time. My parents don't even think I exist any more. I get a guilt trip when I call every three weeks. You may ask what I've been up to lately. So here it is in a nutshell:
I'm still teaching...6 subjects this year in 8th grade. Boy do I have some strange students. I have one kid that likes to perch on his desk. That's right I said perch. He is also stuck in some sort of time warp, or at least I think he is, because he is obsessed with Super Mario Brothers. In order to get him to do any work I have to draw mystery boxes on his worksheets for him to find. He wears botton up shirts as if they were capes and, always talks about getting his white gloves and racoon tail. What a bird brain!
I'm coaching field hockey again. My girls are doing really well. Check out their web page at www.mrbayne.net/fh. Ryan made the web page for me, because I have no idea how to do any of that stuff. Right now my girls are 5-2, not too bad for a team of relatively new players. Today some girl got wacked int he face with a stick. Unfortunately she has braces and her mouth gaurd fell out. Luckily I'm not too bad with blood. She had this metal stick in her mouth and it went clean through her lip!!! GROSS!
I'm taking two graduate courses. Not much to say there, except that eats up all my free time.
Some government scam stole $500.00 from me before I could close my bank account.
My brand new lap top's screen is broken, from what I don't know. The lap top was $800, but the company is claiming that to fix the screen it will cost me $650. Does that make any sense to you?
I have two students this year that are in a gang and are starting fights right and left at school. Yesterday while trying to stop a fight from happening, I almost got punched in the face. Luckily nothing to serious has come about from the gang...but trouble is brewing, and staff and students are very uneasy.
Anyways I just wanted to let you guys know I'm still out here. Practice ended early today so I got some free time. I hope to see you all at homecoming at some point on Saturday. Unfortunately that will be the only day that I can make it up there. See you all then.

I've been around, nudge nudge, been around

So where have I been?

Well, over the past several weeks, IWA has decided to perform every Friday instead of every other Friday. Which means an extra 2 hours of rehearsal each week. However, they did this without consulting Sketch 22, which means I've been playing something of a middle man between the two, attempting to keep tempers down. This proved exponentially harder when Mission: Improvable asked IWA to do a joint show with them, completely ignoring Sketch again. And the director of Sketch is (or at least seems to be) ok with being the odd man out. Although Sketch has a bigger following than any group.

This has upset some people, but others don't care, so SVP is going through something of a Crisis (as only the DC Universe could). Plus, with a Sketch show a week from Friday, rehearsals have intesified. I'll likely be missing one to come to Homecoming however.

Ah yes! Homecoming! The perilous financial aspect seems to have worked out, so I should be there. At this time, let's assume yes. I'll be getting there early evening Friday, and I'll definitely be at Mad Cow's show. My good friend (well, fairly good friend) Danielle, a freshman, just got into the group, so I want to be on hand for her first performance.

Mad Cow is also being considered to attend and perform at SVP's Comedy Jam in April 07. It's a huge event with improv and sketch from NYC and Chicago and LA who come and perform with the groups here. It's pretty amazing. Too bad I didn't know about it while we were still in the group. The other amazing thing is that the performers who come (many of them alumni from Umass) from Chicago and LA will teach workshops with us.

Which is another point for the ex-cows here. I was considering offering such a workshop to the current Mad Cow group. A lot of people here encouraged me to do so, since they've had a lot of experience with former members coming back and leading a mini-rehearsal. Figure it'd give us all (if you wanted to, anyway) a chance to get together and play around again. Not too conceited to offer, is it? I haven't done so yet, because I didn't want to do so until I was sure I'd be at Homecoming, but I also wanted to run it by you guys too.

Besides performing, I've been doing some research into Egypt this semester. What a messed up place. Not politically or economically, but popularly. I have a class about Egypt with undergrads, and at least 4 of them assume that because they've seen every PBS special about it, they are experts. And the prof is entirely too concessionary towards them, and lets them rant for a while. I wish I could illustrate my point, but I can't think of any simple example.

(Random interjection: There was just a Borat commercial on. Anyone going to see that movie?)

Heroes has become a smash hit in our house. I know I've mentioned it before, but it's really a very entertaining show. If you like Lost, and you like superheroes, you'll like it. At least, I think you will. I do.

I cannot think of anything else to say at this time, but I'll try to do a lot better about posting. My schedule is very strange, but hopefully it'll ease up soon. Cannot wait to see you all.
