music mix

Hey guys I need your help. I was talking to one of my students about music. I told her I would make her the best mix CD ever. Then I asked her what type of music she liked. She said she likes all sorts of music but she likes love songs. She is a lil older and has a kid so I can see why she isn't into Gwar, or Cannibal Corpse and stuff. So I need to find a bunch of good love songs to make this cd. i have a few but i figured i would ask the guys in love. Those married, soon to be married and even those who have that special someone.
SO... let me show you what i have.. i think that these songs are awesome but if you have a few songs to add or if you disagree with mine let me know.
If you havn't heard the song let me know and i will email it to you or just download it. These songs are woth having anyway.

Amos Lee - Arms of a woman
Jack Johnson - Banana Pancakes
Josh Groban - My confession (prolly just gonna give her his entire Cd "Closer")
David Grey - this Years love
Dave Matthews Band - Crash
Nora Jones - Come Away With Me
Garth Brooks - Shameless (Strulzie)
Billy Joel - Just The Way You Are(Strulzie)
The Turtles - So happy together (Jake, scrubs tip)

Peter Gabriel - In your eyes
Alan jackson - Remember When

Comments:
Shameless by Garth Brooks....anything by Billy Joel

Didn't Huey Lewis do the theme song for Back to the Future?

Lincin Park has a lot of nice love songs.

Firehouse Love of a Lifetime

Shaggy, Mr. Boombastic

Notorius BIG Big Poppa

or...
You can combine every love song into one, with the Elephant Medley from Mulan Rouge

Mulan Rouge?

You know how I know you're gay?

Laurie... you are rediculous. I like the enthusiasm though? I know you got one or two good suggestions in you.

Erik... how did you ever land a wife?

Strulzie.. coming in big!! thanks buddy. Shameless is in there, and I'm thinking for the longest time, or she's always a woman... whaddaya think?

Jake... a lil help please? How am i gonna get good suggestions when you go all self-loathing gay jock on those that try and help me? Even though Erik's suggestions were horrible and i now think Erik is as romantic as a cucumber... Mr. Boombastic

dude i got you covered. forget this mainstream junk, let's go all ghey indie rock on this beast.

iron and wine - such great heights
colin hay - i just don't think i'll ever get over you
imogen heap - hide and seek
ben folds - luckiest

actually, check out songs from the show Scrubs online -- they pretty much got current romance weepy music down to a science...and i say that as an admirer

It's conversations like this that made me wish I knew music. Since I don't, allow me to recite the lyrics to "Mix Tape," from Avenue Q:

"You've Got A Friend"
"The Theme From 'Friends'"
"That's What Friends Are For"
"A Whole New World"
"Kiss The Girl"
"My Cherie Amour"
"I Am The Walrus"
"Fat Bottomed Girls"
"Yellow Submarine"
"Stuck On You"
"Love Me Do"
"My Heart Will Go On"
"She's Got A Way"
"Yesterday"
"Goodnight Saigon!"
"Through The Years"
"The Theme From 'Cheers'"
"Moving Right Along"
"I Have To Say I Love You In A Song"

Mark, not gonna lie to you, but i dont understand a word u just typed, and u typed a lot of them, at least give us a classic Mark response like Lord of the Rings theme song or something with a Lute in it at least.
Craig, I have always been a big fan of For the Longest time myself, but now that my brother sings accappella that whole genre seems pretty gay (ok i thought that before my brother started singing it but i just wanted to poke a little fun). If u r looking for a little bit more modern stuff I would say Over and Over by Tim McGraw and Nelly ( ST.LOUIS), not sure if u wanted to travel down the rap road, but its a regular for me on my journey to rocking out so i figured i would give it a try. Later

i added a few more (yellow and red)
if you disagree with any of these let me know

It's Kate
Oh you silly, silly boys. Some of the songs are good... but I feel the need to repeat a conversation I have with Erik- just because a song is slow with pretty music it does not make it romantic or a love song. For example, make sure that the slow, pretty song is not really talking about breaking up... it really won't help you in your wooing if it is.

And with that said, Struls, you were on the right track with Billy Joel, but you forgot about "She's got a way" A true winner as every woman wants to feel needed and appreciated by her man.
"Beloved One" by Ben Harper - but this one has to really be used for someone you love and not just to get laid :-)
I have also always enjoyed "sandlewood" by Lisa loeb... a little strange but yet still romantic
"feels like home to me" CHANTAL KREVIAZUK
"before you" CHANTAL KREVIAZUK
"The Kiss" from Last of the Mohicans
Craig, I agree with In your eyes and Crash... very good choices!
Hope this helps!

Kate,

I said "She's got a way!" I know love songs! (Though I certainly don't know how to ask a girl out)

Struls,

Avenue Q is a musical Sesame Street parody, where one puppet gives a monster puppet a mix tape, which she thinks is a sign he likes her, but as she goes through the songs she can't figure it out. So it's a duet of two puppets singing the titles of songs to each other, trying to guess if they like each other or not. So the list is the songs on that tape.

I would gladly have included "When sorrow sang softly and sweet" by Blind Guardian, which is about the greatest love story ever told. The story told in The Simirillion (the mythology behind LotR) of the human Beren and the elf Luthien Tinuviel, and how they fought the dark lord Morgoth, scourge of the elven race, and stole a Simiril from his crown (along they way they fight Sauron in were-wolf form too!). It's truly the greatest love story ever told, but Blind Guardian is an Irish metal band, so it's hardly "romantic." Does that qualify as "classic Mark?"

Also, I've been led to believe that nearly anything by John Mayer is good at wooing, though I don't think all his music is "love songs."
